Ok Mr. Person. I noticed your card was declined and your lady didn't have enough cash. I did. So I told the server to just run mine and make an anonymous gift for them.
You seemed so happy and confused. A few minutes later I am told by the server that you insisted to pay and used another card. The server even argued to put it on her comp list. You didn't relent.
She told me you wanted to pay for it and return my gift. I got a voided receipt.
sigh

Being nice to a person you don't know is so difficult these days. Like some say chivalry is dead. People forgot how to say please,thank you, excuse me, etc

I understand that. But when the tab has been paid for, and not a lot to begin with, one should accept it. It has already been given to them. They both seemed really bummed about gettin declined and looked like they were stuck. I couldn't help it.

It's one of those things were you get so low, that the only thing left that you can really call yours is your pride. Offering to pay the man's tab, however slight it might have been to you is an effort to strip away the only thing left that he has that hasn't been leased or sold just to stay afloat. It' sucks, but it might just be the only thing left that he can really call his. Or not, you decide, could be the port talking.
